«Αυτό που με κόπο κάναμε, του δώσαμε έναν τίτλο». Κύριο θέμα του Handmade and Recycled Theater Festival ή HRTFest, όπως αποκαλείται πια, είναι η ιδέα του χειροποίητου και του ανακυκλώσιμου. Αντανακλώντας την ταυτότητα και τον τρόπο λειτουργίας της ομάδας που το δημιούργησε, της Fabrica Athens, το HRTFest είναι η πραγμάτωση ενός οράματος. Ένα καλλιτεχνικό -και όχι μόνο- όραμα όπου οι καλλιτέχνες δουλεύουν σαν ομάδα, και αναλαμβάνουν πολλούς και διαφορετικούς ρόλους για να δημιουργήσουν οι ίδιοι τις ευκαιρίες τους με τα υλικά και τα εργαλεία που έχουν.
Για 11η χρονιά, λοιπόν, το HRTFest σας προσκαλεί να συνδημιουργήσουμε και φέτος ένα μοναδικό Φεστιβάλ Χειροποίητου & Ανακυκλώσιμου Θεάτρου και Τέχνης!
Το φεστιβάλ έχει ως κέντρο διεξαγωγής του τον Τεχνοχώρο Φάμπρικα και επεκτείνεται στην ευρύτερη γειτονιά του Κεραμεικού και του Μεταξουργείου, περιοχές στο κέντρο της Αθήνας γνωστές για την πολυχρωμία και την πολυπολιτισμικότητά τους. Μπορεί η ονομασία του να παραπέμπει σε ένα αμιγώς Θεατρικό φεστιβάλ, όμως φιλοξενεί όλες τις μορφές τέχνης: Θέατρο, Performance, Χορός, Τσίρκο, Μουσικη, Εργαστήρια, Κινηματογράφος, Εικαστικές τέχνες, Διαλέξεις/ομιλίες, συζητήσεις, συμπόσια, παρουσιάσεις βιβλίου, αναλόγια κ.α.
Τα τελευταία χρόνια, μάλιστα, το πρόγραμμα εμπλουτίζεται με περισσότερες πανελλαδικές αλλά και διεθνείς συμμετοχές! Το HRTFest έχει ήδη ανακοινώσει ανοιχτό κάλεσμα συμμετοχής στο Φεστιβάλ για όλες τις μορφές τέχνης σε Ελλάδα και εξωτερικό.
Η θεματική του 11th Handmade and Recycled Theater Festival φέρει τον τίτλο “Branch Out” / “Διακλαδώσεις” και εμπνέεται από την εξάπλωση των κλαδιών στη φύση. Όπως, λοιπόν, συμβαίνει σε δέντρα και σε θάμνους τα κλαδιά τους να περιπλέκονται, να αλληλοεπηρεάζονται, και εν τέλει να αλληλοϋποστηρίζονται και να αναμειγνύονται παράγοντας και φιλοξενώντας ζωή, έτσι και η αλληλεπίδραση και η συνομιλία μεταξύ διαφορετικών μορφών τέχνης, πολιτισμών και κοινωνικών ομάδων δημιουργεί κάθε φορά ένα διαφορετικό και διαρκώς εξελισσόμενο τοπίο, που επηρεάζει και επηρεάζεται.
Έτσι, το 11th HRTFest γίνεται για ακόμα μία χρονιά διεθνές, με πρόσκληση ενδιαφέροντος σε καλλιτέχνες και καλλιτεχνικές ομάδες εντός και εκτός Ελλάδας, ώστε να δημιουργηθούν καλλιτεχνικές/πολιτισμικές ανταλλαγές και σχέσεις μεταξύ των συμμετεχόντων. Η φετινή έκδοση του φεστιβάλ πρόκειται να πραγματοποιηθεί την περίοδο 20-30 Σεπτεμβρίου 2023 στον Κεραμεικό, με κέντρο διεξαγωγής τον Τεχνοχώρο Φάμπρικα, επεκτεινόμενο στην ευρύτερη γειτονιά.
Ένας από τους βασικότερους στόχους του 11th HRTFest είναι να δώσει πρόσβαση και ευκαιρία ζύμωσης με την Τέχνη στο σύνολο των κοινωνικών ομάδων. Για το λόγο αυτό, το 11th HRTFest θέλουμε να είναι ένα Φεστιβάλ ανοιχτό σε όλους, με ελεύθερη πρόσβαση και δωρεάν είσοδο σε όλες τις δράσεις του.
Παίρνουμε την Τέχνη στα χέρια μας, μία ακόμη φορά, σαν να είναι η πρώτη φορά!

Επίτιμοι καλεσμένοι του φετινού φεστιβάλ είναι ο διεθνούς αναγνωρισιμότητας Ιταλός σκηνοθέτης και θεατράνθρωπος, Eugenio Barba, ιδρυτής του ιστορικού Odin Teatret και η ηθοποιός της ομάδας Julia Varley, συν-ιδρύτρια του Fondazione Barba – Varley στην Ιταλία, του οποίου η Fabrica Athens αποτελεί παράρτημα. Οι δράσεις θα γίνουν με την υποστήριξη του Istituto Italiano di Cultura Atene - Ιταλικό Μορφωτικό Ινστιτούτο Αθηνών. Στο φεστιβάλ θα συμμετέχει και η διεθνής θεατρική κοινότητα Antagon theaterAKTION που έχει βάση στο Frankfurt am Main στη Γερμανία. Ακόμη, στο φεστιβάλ θα συμμετέχει η ιστορική ομάδα του Teatro Nucleo από τη γειτονική Ιταλία, αλλά και οι θεατρικοί οργανισμοί Brama Teatr (Πολωνία), Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium (Δανία) και Educational Theater Center Replika (Ρουμανία). Η πρώτη θα παρουσιάσει παραστάσεις του ρεπερτορίου της και την πολύχρονη εργασία της στο θέατρο στην κοινότητα (συγκεκριμένα στις φυλακές και σε ψυχιατρικές μονάδες), ενώ οι υπόλοιποι θα πραγματοποιήσουν εργαστήρια με την κοινότητα για τη δημιουργία μιας μεγάλης κλίμακας παράστασης εξωτερικού χώρου για την προάσπιση των δημοκρατικών αξιών της Ε.Ε., που θα έχει την υφή rock όπερας. Η παράσταση θα γίνει στο πλαίσιο του project «Human Mosaic – For you, for me, for everyone to see», το οποίο χρηματοδοτείται από το πρόγραμμα Creative Europe και θα αποτελέσει την μεγάλη τελετή λήξης του φεστιβάλ. Τέλος, στο πρόγραμμα του φεστιβάλ θα ενταχθεί η Ελληνογερμανική θεατρική ανταλλαγή νέων με τίτλο «Handmade & Recycled», η οποία γίνεται σε συνεργασία με τον γερμανικό οργανισμό Mostar Friedensprojekt και υπό την ευγενική υποστήριξη του ΕΓΙΝ/DGJW – Ελληνογερμανικό Ίδρυμα Νεολαίας.

Fabrica Athens Multiactive Group of Art invites you to the 11th Handmade & Recycled Theater Festival. The beloved festival returns to the neighborhood of Kerameikos, Athens, for the eleventh consecutive year, more dynamic than ever.
“What we did with effort, now it has a title.” The main theme of the Handmade and Recycled Theater Festival or HRTFest, as it is now called, is the idea of handmade and recyclable. Reflecting the identity and the ways the team that created it, Fabrica Athens, HRTFest is the fulfilling of a vision. An artistic vision – and not only – where artists work as a team, and take on many different parts to create their own opportunities with the materials and tools they already have.
After 11 years, Fabrica Athens invites you this year to co-create with it a unique Festival of Handmade & Recyclable Theater and Art!
HRTFest is based on Fabrica Art Space and stretches in the wider area of Kerameikos and Metaxourgeio neighborhoods downtown Athens, areas well known for their colorful and multicultural features. We aim all Festival’s actions to be inclusive and accessible to all cultural and societal subclasses, such as immigrants, disabled people, children and teenagers, seniors, LGBTQ +, students, artists, scholars, working class etc.
The title may point to a purely theatrical festival, though it covers all forms of art. The call is open to (not only) artists, tutors and researchers of any artistic field. HRTFest hosts: Theater, Performance, Dance, Circus, Music, Workshops, Cinema, Visual arts, Lectures, debates, banquets, book presentations etc.
In recent years, in fact, the program has been enriched with more nationwide and international participation! There is already an open call for applications for the 11th HRTFest addressed to artist nation- and worldwide.
The theme of the 11th Handmade and Recycled Theater Festival, by the title “Branch Out”, draws inspiration from the way plant branches expand in nature. Just like in trees and bushes - their branches get mixed and tangled, affect each other and, in the end, they mingle and support each other, breeding and hosting new life - thus the interaction and dialog between various forms of art, social backgrounds and civilisations paints, each and every time, a unique and constantly evolving scenery, that leaves its mark by being open to influences.
Thus, the 11th HRTFest becomes one more time international, with an open call for artists and artistic ensembles in and out of borders, so that new artistic and cultural exchanges and correlations may brew among the participants. This year HRTFest edition will take place during 20-30 of September 2023 in Athens, Greece, based on Fabrica Art Space and stretching around the Kerameikos neighborhood.
One of the main goals of the 11th HRTFest is to give access and the opportunity to all social sections and classes to mingle with Art. This is the reason why we want the 11th HRTFest to be a Festival open for all, with free access and no cost for the public.
We make art, once again, like for the first time!

This year's guests of honor are the international standing Italian theater director and mentor, Eugenio Barba, founder of the famous Odin Teatret and the actress Julia Varley,co-founder of the Fondazione Barba – Varley in Italy, branch of which is Fabrica Athens. These artistic endeavors are supported by Istituto Italiano di Cultura Atene - Italian Institute of Culture in Athens. Hosted in the Festival will be the international theater community Antagon theaterAKTION, based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The well known theater group Teatro Nucleo from Italy, and the theater organizations Brama Teatr (Poland), Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium (Denmark) and Educational Theater Center Replika (Rumania), will be also hosted by the 11th HRTFest. The last three will be co-creating with Fabrica Athens a huge site specific performance for the project «Human Mosaic – For you, for me, for everyone to see», funded by Creative Europe - EU program - that will be the closing event of the festival. LAst but not least, part of the Festival will also be the Greco-German theater youth exchange Europian program, titled «Handmade & Recycled», in co-operation with the german organization Mostar Friedensprojekt and with the support of DGJW – Greco-German Youth Institute.
