A few words about me..
I am Kelly and up to last year I used to travel a lot. However, currently I live in Naxos island in Greece and this new experience of having a base - gave e the opportunity to get my first touch with a dog ever in my life!
Lary (shortened from Lazaros) was abused in a cruel way by a woman when he was 2 months old. He was found in very bad conditions on the street, they kindly got him to the vet and as a miracle he survived. Then, we adopted him in order to give him a secure place to stay, and lots of love to overcome the physical and mental trauma caused by the abuse.
Surprisingly, it took me only 2 days to become my new best friend and much further than this - Lary the Survivor - and since then he has enriched my life in a very special way I could never imagine. Actually, he gives me back so much love, laugh and better knowing myself than can't be described in words.
The best thing that happened to my life during 2020!
This personal experience made me more aware of cruelty happening around, animal rights and challenges for people who are trying to help.
The project:
Naxos Animal Welfare Society, is made up of a group of people who care, about the welfare of stray and badly treated animals.
They formed a society, because the efforts of individuals were not enough to solve all the problems.
"As a group, we hope that we can do better for animals.
As Naxos Animal Welfare Society, we can co-operate with other animal welfare societies and with their help, improve our help for strays.
We have many concerns about the welfare of stray and owned, abused animals on our island."
My goal for my 35th birthday is to support their efforts and make these animals healthier & happier based on your help!
Where your money will go:
- To cover food, feeding the animals to the shelter daily but also set up the feeding stations with volunteers for stray dogs and cats in different areas, especially during the winter and covid times.
- To cover medicine and medical care, specifically first aid for beaten animals, vaccinations and sterilizations with vets' help.
Why contribute?
Animals can't tell their stories of suffering and cover their needs.
We can give them a voice to do that.
They deserve a better living!
